I need you to do something RIGHT NOW. Well, maybe you should actually wait until after you read this post, but do it right after that. 😉
Set an alert on your phone for the night of Friday May 8 and another one for the morning of Saturday May 9. What do you have going on? YOU are helping our amazing Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina with a ginormous, nationwide food drive. Saturday May 9 is the official Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive and probably the easiest food drive for you to help out with.
On Saturday, mail carriers across the country, will pick up food donations right at your mailbox. All you have to do, is collect a bag full of non-perishable food items (most mail carriers have left a bag for you or will soon), and put it right out by your mailbox. That’s it. Easy Peasy.
So what is your alert on Friday for? That’s to remind you to walk to your pantry, or take a quick trip to the store, and pick up some of the most needed items at the Food Bank. Peanut butter, paper products, and canned beans and soup top the general list, but don’t forget about baby supplies, and even nutritional drinks for seniors. Every little bit truly helps.
Last year, our awesome Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina collected enough food to provide 318,000 meals for families in the area. That’s incredible. You can help top that number this year.
Now you can go ahead and set those phone alerts. Remember, every bit really does help. You can make a big difference to a family by just adding a bag to your mailbox.
